Honey Boo Boo Banned From Selling Girl Scout Cookies

Honey Boo Boo got in a bit of trouble by selling Girl Scout cookies.  Why you ask? Because the reality starlet is not a Girl Scout and she did not sell the cookies the old fashioned way, but tried to use her influence on Facebook by pushing cookies on her 701,000 FB fans.

And it was working as evidenced by a photo the seven-year-old posted on her FB page showing a car packed to the top with Girl Scout cookies ready to be shipped to her online customers.

It was all fine and dandy until the GSUSA stepped in and halted the sales. A rep for GSUSA in Georgia where HBB Alana Thompson lives told TMZ that they called Facebook and said this method of sales is a no no.

“Through an online sales approach, a girl doesn’t have the personal experience of asking someone to purchase her product,” the Girls Scouts explained. “She doesn’t have to learn the responsibility of handling the money and personally delivering the order.” The GSUSA added, “When you have canvassed your neighborhood and manned cookie booths for hours, you learn the value of a hard day’s work. There is also a strong feeling of accomplishment when you are personally engaged in the activity.”

June Shannon, Boo Boo’s mama, disagrees. She told TMZ:

“If I can raise more money for a troop, whoever they are, especially in an area where they don’t get a lot of money, and parents can’t afford to buy a ton of cookies, why wouldn’t I help? We’re doing nothing wrong.”
