Congratulations go out to Mario Lopez — it’s now been officially confirmed that he will be returning to The X Factor as host for a second season. Sorry Khloe Kardashian! You have been officially shown the door after one season. Understandably so, because let’s face it sister, hosting ain’t your thang. Scripted reality TV works wonders for you.

“Khloe Kardashian will not be returning to co-host The X Factor,” the show’s producers said in a statement. “We really enjoyed working with her and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

As for Mario, Simon Cowell said, “I’m thrilled Mario is back for Season Three of The X Factor. Hosting a live show and keeping the judges – especially Demi [Lovato]– in line, is not an easy job, but Mario is a pro and we are glad he’s coming back.”

Mario is the only host who is getting a second chance on the US version of The X Factor.
