“The Amazing Race” airs its ninth episode of season 22 tonight April 21, 2013 in an episode titled, “The Ultimate Fun House.” The five remaining teams in the race will depart Switzerland in this order: Bates & Anthony, Mona & Beth, Max & Katie, Caroline & Jennifer and Joey & Meghan.

LIVE SHOW BLOG:
Bates & Anthony get to start the race in first place for the third time this season. The teams now have to head to Dresden, Germany by train. Bates slept on the ride and when he woke up, his bag was missing. Good for him, he had his passport on him. And he has a great attitude about the loss. He says he’s going to be so much lighter and faster now.

Once in Germany, the teams raced for taxis so they could get to the Ministry of Finance. Once there, they have to each answer three questions (My Ford inspired) about their next destination. Max & Katie complete the task first and now have to drive 100 miles to Berlin to find the Brandenburg Gate (that’s where Ronald Reagan made his famous speech and asked for Berlin Wall to be torn down.)

Teams must now head to a rooftop to find their next clue. All teams arrive and now must fly off the building. Max & Katie are the first to go. Afterwards, there is a Detour where the teams have to visit one of two museums, each with its own task. In Trains Trials, teams lay train tracks on a platform and when a model train completes the entire track and in Font Follies, teams choose letters at a market place and deliver the them. If you look at the photo above, you will see that the letters are huge and fragile! Max & Katie choose Font Follies. As do Caroline & Jennifer and Bates & Anthony. Max & Katie get their letters and head out to deliver them. Mona & Beth are now also going to Font Follies. Joey & Meghan are the only team which choose Trains Trials. Max & Katie finally find their way to the museum and are delivering their letters.

The teams next head to Salon Zur Wilden Renate for a Roadblock where they have to determine what famous person said: “Ich bin ein Berliner!” The answer is John F. Kennedy. Once they answer correctly, they have to go through a dark and twisted labyrinthvand find a white room with the next clue.

Caroline & Jennifer are looking for directions. Anthony breaks his letters. Katie found the next clue and says the labyrinth is her worst nightmare. Once finished with labyrinth  the teams must head to the next Pit Stop located at Kurfurstendam.

Caroline and Jennifer deliver their letters. Bates & Anthony head to Train Trails. Max & Katie are the first team to arrive at the Pit Stop. They each win a 2013 Ford Fusion!! Joey & Meghan are at the labyrinth but Joey still can’t come up with an answer for the quote question. He starts asking random passersby and gets it right finally.

Bates & Anthony think they need a prayer to save themselves from elimination this week. Their prayers may have been answered as Mona & Beth are lost. Meanwhile, Jennifer finally found the room and the clue back at the labyrinth.

Joey & Meghan are team number two. Mona & Beth get to the labyrinth as Bates & Anthony arrive. Caroline & Jennifer are team number three. It’s a race to the Pit Stop for the last teams. Bates & Anthony decide to follow Beth and Mona and then beat them to the punch once they find the pit stop. And it worked. They are team number four. Mona & Beth are the last team to arrive, just two seconds behind Bates and Anthony.

PIT STOP ORDER:
1st: Max & Katie are the first team to arrive at the Pit Stop. They each win a 2013 Ford Fusion!!
2nd: Joey and Meghan
3rd: Caroline & Jennifer
4th: Bates & Anthony
5th:  Mona & Beth
