Justin Bieber got booed at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.

The night had It all started pretty well for the artist. He kissed Selena Gomez backstage and then performed one solo song and one with Will.i.am. But the singer made the most headlines when he got booed, yes booed, by a loud crowd when he went on stage to accept the first ever Milestone Award.

Looking like a deer caught in headlights, Bieber who is used to his millions of adoring fans gushing over him just stood there for a while looking around in disbelief. After what seemed like an eternity, Bieber started his thank you speech and stood up for himself. “I’m 19 years old….I think I’m doing a pretty good job and basically, from my heart, I really wanna say it should really be about the music. It should be about the craft, the craft that I’m making.”

He continued, “This is not a gimmick. I’m an artist and I should be taken seriously and all this other bull should not be spoken of…” But the boos got really loud here as Justin went on… “I wanna thank my manager, Scooter Braun. I wanna thank my family at home. I wanna thank my mother, my father, I wanna thank Jesus Christ. Mom, I love you so much. Dad, I love you. Little brother and sister, I love you so much. Thank you guys so much. Fans, you’re incredible.”
