In her latest “Ask Amy” video for her Smart Girls series, Amy Poehler broaches the subject of being in love. And she says being in love is super scary though the alternative is just too sad.

“Being in love is super scary. Being in love is the worst!” Amy proclaims, explaining, “I mean it’s the best, but it’s so hard and scary to open your heart to someone. It’s much easier to kind of float and not invest and not expose yourself.”

If you find yourself in love, then Amy advises, “First of all, celebrate the idea that you’re in love or you love the idea of being in love..and then take it slow, peek around the corner of love…Try to evaluate how you feel each step of the way…but I think the alternative is just too sad…It’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.”
