Amid rumors that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are getting back together, we now have Miley’s own words as to why the two got together in the first place and why they probably will not end up back together anytime soon. If ever.

In an interview with Barbara Walters for the reporter’s 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013 special, Miley admitted she and Liam moved too quickly on their young romance, all for the wrong reasons.

“I was so scared of ever being alone,” the now 21-year old Miley revealed, adding, “and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year.”

Miley and Liam met in June 2009 and were engaged three years later after they had broken up once.

“I don’t ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can’t be yourself.”

Miley says she now has no regrets. “I definitely wouldn’t change being engaged. It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years!”

Miley added, “But now, I just feel like I can actually be happy. I wait for those moments of silence, when I’m just at my house, by myself.”
