First lady Michelle Obama has lent her support to the families of Nigeria, tweeting a photo of herself holding a sign which simply reads, “#BringBackOurGirls.” Michelle is of course addressing the sad case of the nearly 300 Nigerian girls who were abducted by an Islamist extremist group recently, threatening to sell them into slavery.
“Our prayers are with the missing Nigerian girls and their families,” Mrs. Obama wrote in the caption, adding, “It’s time to #BringBackOurGirls. -mo.”
Obama is the most powerful person to join this particular twitter campaign to date. Other celebrities who have lent their Twitter voice to this cause include Ellen DeGeneres, Sean Penn, Kendall Jenner, Ashton Kutcher and Justin Timberlake, using hashtags #BringBackOurGirls and #RealMenDontBuyGirls.
