In celebration of Lunar New Year, Janel Parrish (“Pretty Little Liars”) and Harry Shum, Jr. (“Shadowhunters” & “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny”) kicked off Beverly Center’s third annual Lunar New Year event celebrating the Year of the Monkey. The stars were the first to place their wishes upon the enchanting Wishing Tree, hanging traditional decorative red envelopes containing their own personal wishes for the year to come.· Janel Parrish (clad in Topshop) hung a Wishing Tree wish for more balance in her life this year. She said her favorite thing about Lunar New Year is getting the chance to have new beginnings and focus on bettering yourself. This year, she’ll celebrate with a big family dinner here in Los Angeles.

· Harry Shum, Jr., who actually just returned from Beijing, gave New Year greetings to everyone in Mandarin (which he’s learning!). He said his favorite Lunar New Year tradition growing up was putting firecrackers in a pot and his mother’s food. Harry is excited to head to San Francisco to spend Lunar New Year with his extended family, and the wish he hung on the Wishing Tree was for health and prosperity for his family.

· Janel and Harry both greeted each other with a hug and were excited to see each other because they’re new network-mates, now that both star in shows on Freeform (formerly ABC Family).
