The American Cancer Society’s California Spirit 32 gourmet garden party honored actress Fran Dresher, a 16-year uterine cancer survivor and US State Dept. public diplomacy envoy for women’s health with its annual Mission Award on Sunday, July 16. The event was hosted by Richard Blais, of Top Chef, Top Chef All-Stars, Iron Chef America and Chopped All-Stars as a competitor. 
Honorary chairs Sherry Lansing (Paramount Pictures, STOP CANCER, Stand Up 2 Cancer), Phil Rosenthal (15-time Emmy Award-winning “Everyone Loves Raymond,” “Spanglish,” “I’ll have What Phil’s Having”), and Bill Chait (Founder of Sprout Restaurant Group – Bestia, Barrel and Ashes, Republique) welcomed the crowd and Andrew Firestone (“The Bachelor”) presided over the live auction. Also in attendance was actor Matthew Modine.
The event which was held at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City raised $130K for cancer research.
