Carmen Electra, Akon, Dionne Warwick, Donna Karan, Jean Watts, Joanna Krupa, Malik Yusef, Maria Bello, Melanie Griffith, Rosa Acosta, Stevie Wonder, Beverly Todd, Tony Dennison, Tara Reid, Adolfo Sanchez, Adrienne Bailon- Houghton, AJ Gibson, and more attended CinéFashion Film Awards Sunday, October 8th, 2017. The event honored the best fashion films as well as the creators of these extraordinary works of art.
This year’s 2017 CFFA’s CinéFashion Film Awards, paid tribute to the Ziegfeld Follies with a highly anticipated opening tribute performance by American stage and movie actor, Obba Babatunde, which was dedicated to the 1907-1930’s Ziegfeld Follies and the late Fred Astaire.
The glamorous evening highlighted and honored fashion films, fashion, and film icons in addition to individuals who inspire the electricity of the industry. This year, CineFashion Film Awards honored and paid homage to key icons such as: Donna Karan, who received the Designer Icon Award, in recognition of her outstanding work as one of the most influential fashion designers in the world, as a versatile Innovator, and a pioneer designer in women’s wear and American fashion among other fashion and film icons.
Dionne Warwick was honored for her contributions as an American Music Icon and humanitarian work around the world as a global ambassador for music education, AIDS and world hunger. And in recognition for his outstanding work in the fashion and entertainment industry, Forest Whitaker was honored for the Peace Icon Award.
The award event benefited the nonprofit “Children Uniting Nations”, which was started 20 years ago by Daphna Ziman to offer academic and community-based mentoring to at-risk foster youth. Daphna is co-founder, Chief Creative Executive, and President of the 24-hour network, Cinémoi. It was a memorable and magnanimous event, while supporting a great cause and also featured a live broadcast for Cinémoi (Channel 236 on Verizon Fios and Frontier.)
