JOSHUA LEDET gave three more earth-moving performances on the semifinals episode of American Idol May 16, 2012.
Randy Jackson picked I’d Rather Go Blind by Etta James as Joshua’s first song of the night. Steven Tyler said this was yet another Joshua moment and is a dream come true for Joshua.
Jennifer Lopez said the judges struggled on a song pick for Joshua because they could not decide whether to go retro or modern, but said this song fit him like a glove. Randy said he hopes Joshua can bring R&B back to modern times.

Steven said it was another beautiful thank you God moment for Joshua. Jennifer said it was a pull back and control type of song and he did this so well. She said Joshua brings a lot of emotion to the songs he sings. She added that the way Josh digs deep makes him special, because it takes vulnerability and courage to do that.
Randy asked Joshua why he chose this song and Josh said the song connected with him–he had heard it on the radio and wanted to deliver the message. Randy tells him he should carry this on to his career. “Everything you sing should touch you, you dig deep into the lyric and the performance, another stellar performance, I love that, Brilliant dude.”

Jimmy Iovine chose No More Drama by Mary J. Blige as Joshua’s last song of the night. Randy said it doesn’t matter what Joshua sings, he does so well all the time. “At this point it doesn’t matter what you do or what you sing, people should just vote for you. The natural performer that you are, I don’t care, that is what being an artist is all about.” Jennifer agreed and said Joshua has a perfect marriage of knowing what and when to do things. Steven called it beautiful and over the top.
